It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of AD Pirous, a revered figure in the world of art and education. AD Pirous was a trailblazer in graphic design education at the Faculty of Art and Design, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), where he held the esteemed position of professor since 1994.
Renowned for his distinctive blend of modern painting infused with Islamic themes, AD Pirous left an indelible mark on the art world, with a prolific career spanning back to the 1960s. His artistic vision and dedication to his craft earned him numerous national and international accolades, including the Best Print Work at the Art Show Naples, New York, USA in 1970, the Cultural Satyalancana by the President of the Republic of Indonesia in 2002, and the prestigious Habibie Award for Cultural Sciences in 2015.
AD Pirous's contributions to the world of art and education will be deeply missed. May his soul rest in peace, and may his artistic spirit continue to inspire generations to come.
